What is Peperino?
Peperino or piperino is a magmatic rock, typical of the areas of Vitorchiano and Soriano nel Cimino, in the province of Viterbo, and of the Colli Albani, in the province of Rome, made up of fragments of trachyte or tephrite, and containing leucite in various percentages. The classic colour is speckled gray. Peperino stone is a natural material of volcanic origin, very resistant and ideal for paving courtyards and outdoor areas of the house. The stone is widespread in the provinces of Viterbo and Rome. It has a basically grey color with dark specks. Not everyone knows that there is not only the grey peperino but also pink peperino. The pink variety is rarer, but for this very reason it is the most popular type.
